Top Drawer only makes dovetail drawers. Dovetail joinery is the standard of quality construction and dovetail joints are AWI approved for drawer construction. We will make your drawers to your specifications out of your choice of wood, plywood or melamine (see Materials below). Drawer sides are available in 1/2”, 5/8” and 3/4” thicknesses. And all of our drawers are available RTA, assembled, finished, unfinished or any combination to conform to your specs.
Top Drawer is the first in the industry to set up standards for our drawer types and materials. We want to make sure your order meets your expectations.
Drawer Blanks
We also sell drawer blanks, called DrawerPlanx, in even inch heights from 2”-12”. DrawerPlanx material is available in Soft & Hard Maple, Red Oak and Beech. They can be ordered as finished or unfinished. Our standard edge detail for the Pre-Finished Baltic Birch is a bull nosed edge covered in a clear foil. Other options are also available. DrawerPlanx are offered with or without a groove for an inset bottom. 1/4" and 1/2" bottoms are also available.
Specialty Projects
Our Specialty Department can turn your visions into reality. Our dovetail system can be used to create a variety of specialty items including corner drawer banks, silverware drawers, trash bins, hair-dryer drawers, utility drawers, and lay-back spice drawers, among others. We accept all proposals and drawings and will give a quote on any project.

Our melamine can be ordered on either MDF core or on eco-friendly Woodstalk core. Woodstalk is formaldehyde-free, annually renewable waste wheat straw fiber that is mixed with a high performance polyurethane resin.
Maple and Red Oak will be graded by color; Cherry and walnut will be graded by sap. There are 3 categories:
• Natural or Rustic - Color or Sap is not considered a defect
• Select - Good Color, 1 side
• Premium - Good Color, 2 side

All solid wood drawers come with 1/16" eased edges - any variance is considered an Option and located in 'Options' on work order. Standard prefinished plywood drawers have a bullnosed edge.
Options for your drawers include 3/4” fronts (with or without 3/8” wings), scoops, file slots, boring, grooving, dividers, and drawer box notching for under mount guides. We also carry TopSlide and Blum tandem clips-installed and file bars.
